The Mapleys in Victoria

Melbourne City

Melbourne Port

After Richard Mapley (born 1810) of Great Linford moved to Tasmania in 1845, his wife Fanny and children joined him in 1849, settling in Hobart briefly, before moving to New Norwalk/Lachlan up the Derwent River 20 miles from Hobart.

As Tasmania flourished, 2nd generation family members moved to the State capital Hobart, and throughout the state. Samuel Joshua (1864 - 1945) inspired the migration from Tasmania, with 4 children moving across the Bass Straits to mainland Victoria.

Mapleys settled in and throughout Victoria, then over time migrated west to South Australia and north to Queensland.
